Identifing a Yamaha engine

I bought an engine for my buggy and I believe that it is a XS400 but im not sure it has 5E8-000146 printed on the side. Is there any other way to identify this engine.

The engine size should also be stamped on it. I believe mine says it near the exhaust and it's 391 cc.
