Hey all!
One last (hopefully) little problem with my bike. It keeps stalling when riding. I'll be going along fine then when stopped at a light the rpm will drop, the engine will start to stutter then will stall. The problem goes away if I keep the engine reved a little, or have the choke pulled out half way. I don't want to run with the choke though because that will just cause more problems.
So I concluded that the idle rpm might be set too low. Letting it idle after warming up it seems to run around 600-700 rpm at idle, but will go up and down wanting to stall. I turned it up to around 1200rpm at idle and seems to be running much stronger now. I just want to make sure that I've now not set it to high.
Could someone please tell me what the rpm should be on my bike? It's a 1982 xs400 heritage special. If it should be where it was (around 6-700) then I'm thinking it may be an issue with the carbs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
