I want to put new air filters on my 81 xs 400 special II, should I use pods or k&n preplacements. Which are better for performance? Do yoi need to do tuning in the carbs afterwords? All opinions are like. Well you know the rest.
Thanks:wtf:

k&n better airflow, uni pod (foam) more filtration. At least that's what I've read. Had k&n on my triumph and swapped to unis with outerwear covers for water resistance whenever I started running without sidecovers. Haven't noticed a change in performance, of course I did put on a d&d 2:1 exhaust kit at the same time.

You'll have to rejet the carbs. Might as well swap your exhaust and air filters at the same time if you plan to do exhaust in the future.
