Hello new to the site and just got a 82 xs400
Well I got it as a gift from my mom, but who ever she got it from started making it a cafe racer style I guess.. but anyway there is no tachometer and I don't if this has been posted I wanted to know if it was possible to wire up a new tach from like a newer r6.. just thought it would be cool..

Welcome! I think it could work (in principle) if you get the right gear ratio. Keep in mind that the tach cable goes to the screw gear on the camshaft, and your tach gear was probably removed. It looks like this on my ride:

If price is no option, electronic tachs measure based on the spark rate, and could be attached to any bike (and give you pretty much any option for how it looks.) Much easier to install, but a little pricier.
