Polishing oil/gas stains off a gas tank

Hmm so I got a small bit of oil stains on the gas tank, any good suggestions for polishing this? Need to pick up some cleaner anyway soon

If you can't get it out with a cleaner I would use rubbing compound. It comes in numerous grits, so use your judgment. It will remove paint and clear coat so be careful to only go to partial thickness. Follow up with a quality polish, then two coats of wax.
