Question about wiring diagram

When looking over the wiring diagram here : http://www.xs400.com/attachments/wiringdiagramxs400cafe2-jpg.15454/ it mentions brushes at the voltage regulator. I am not familiar with this. Could someone enlighten me. I am in the middle of a wire job and I could use all the expertise I can get! Thanks to all!

The brushes are for sending power to the field coil in the alternator, but your bike has a brushless alternator.

Still need to feed the field coil. Just substitute the wording "field coil" for "brush assembly's."

Yes, I understand that now, the confusion for me came as it was away from the alternator area. Thanks BBS360
