That looks pretty cool.
I like how he cut the engine off and just left the transmission. But I think I would still want oil in the transmission no matter what is driving it. He has a bit of work ahead of him to make a plate to cover that gaping hole.
Nice Idea though. ...Come to think about it, if the motor is powerfull enough does he even need a transmission?

just needs a speed controller IMHO!
I built an electric gocart for my son, and that had a linear pot with a speed controller.
lots of torque in that thing, as It started to power up the wall (caught it in time before flipping over)
