toggle switch insted of a key..

anyone know how to wire the ignition to toggle switchs? also does the xs400 need a battery to run? or will will the stator run the bike of itself insted of the battery

Needs a battery to run. Don't know about using a toggle switch.

for toggle switch, just wire it in the red/white + supply to the coils from the battery.
if you are keeping the electric start etc, I would get one of those DPDT switches to switch 2 +'ves over.

I just changed my bike to a toggle switch to start, drewpy is correct on the wiring, I just picked up an old school red covered toggle switch and mounted it to the battery tray to my ratty xs400. I really like how the switch turned out. It was super easy to do.

And drewpy, I think a DPST would work also. The dual throw would just go to nothing if my thoughts are correct. Might be just a bit cheaper.
