Hello again to all! Am looking at aquiring a 1982 maxim 400 this week. After I sold the 80 400 xs special 2 I have missed having it around. I got an email from a gentleman yesterday who wants to trade me his maxim 400 for my bike and am thinking about doing it cuz I loved working on my lil yammy...
Well if it goes through and I get it..... it just means I can give the xs a complete disassemble and clean. The one she truly deserves. From what I understand, for only being 550's they have really good power.
Hey guys and gals. Someone is offering me a maxim 550 for trade on my suzuki vx800. I haven't ridden my suzuki since I got and have it in craigs list for sale or trade.
My question here is do any of you know how good the maxims are? Are they similar to our xs400's or a different beast...
I vary it up...anything from foghat...zztop...pink floyd...ac/dc....country....really just depends on my mood....really love to start by playing lowrider by war...then the woman knows I am in a zone and to leave me be :bike:

Well is kind of a bittersweet but happy day. Got the vx800 running again last night after taking the xs out for one of her final rides for a while. Now that I have the vx to use I can park the yamaha and strip her down and try and get her looking good and running better. My plan really is to...
I just installed a fuel shut off valve between the petcock and the fuel pump for now. Changed the oil and got her running good! Now all that is left is take her on a nice run to burn off the rest of the oil that is still in the muffler.
ok Found out the problem. The petcock is faulty. It is a vacuum petcock and even whe the fuel tank is off the bike fuel still pours out the petcock. This was letting fule soak all the way into the crankcase which as we all know is not good. I will be installing a fuel shutoff valve (manual)...
Southeast Wisconsin you say huh? Well I am directly between madison and milwaukee and I happen to have an old family friend who does reupholstering if she is still alive. I will try and get her contact info and get it to you. She is out of fort atkinson.
On a side note...which shop did you send...
