Hate to say, but I got the Pinas tank/seat/battery pan for my CB550 project...not my XS. When I put everything in place on the bike it just doesn't really line up right, as in where the seat and the tank meet there is a gap you can probably see through and the lines aren't really smooth (not...
Looks like a combo from benjiescaferacer, I just got my Pinas tank/seat in a little while ago. What did you think about the fit and finish from those guys? Mounting hardware and such?
When I first got my bike it was real sluggish, turns out one of the spark plug wires was loose and was only running on 1 cylinder a lot of the time...maybe you are dropping a cylinder at some point?
I threw a connecting rod bearing a few weeks ago and yesterday I got around to putting the engine back together after replaceing it. Like an idiot, I didn't mark the timing chain or anything for when it came time to put it all back together. So I pretty much sat there spinning the crankshaft...

Connecting rods and bearings (right side bearings fell right out, left side had to be tapped out).
Here you can see the wear on the right side bearing. It's almost as if the bearing came loose and was...
So I fired up my '81 xs400 last week with no problem. But when I took it for a ride there was this knocking sound comming from deep in the engine, loud too. So yesterday I tore my top end off to find the problem, looks like I got a messed up connecting rod bearing on the right side. After...
I've got some 3" rise super sport bars that I love, but I'm a smaller guy and it's not that much of a lean to get to 'em. Comfortable on long rides and all...
Its time for new tires and I'm throwing around the idea of pulling my front fender off and going with a big front tire on the same rim. Stock is 100/90-18, how big can I go without being ridiculous? Also, '80 xs400, not special.
