My petcock is leaking on my 78. For a quick fix, could I just put an inline fuel shutoff on and leave it on prime while running? Or even leave it on the on position.
Has anyone just cut down their seat foam and then just put the stock cover back on their 78? I want to buy a brat bike seat sometime, but thought I could use what I have. Even just someone who used the stock seat pan.
Well I had a big setback. The PO stripped out pilot fuel jets. Before I did any research, I used an easy out which cracked the aluminium:banghead:

Since this is my first post I just wanted to say hello. I just picked up a 1978 XS400 to build. I really want it to be a sort of desert sled tracker type bike. The bike didn't run when I got it but after a carb cleaning I got it running ok. It starts to cut out around 5,000 rpm but is fine...
