Probably 60. I'm still hearing from other people "kick it until it stops rising" which puts them both at 145.

Hey guys. I'm back. Quick question about compression tests on these kick only bikes... For a kick start only bike, how many times should you kick it over for a compression test? 1) First article I read said that you should only have to kick it 3 - 5 times to reach maximum compression...

Any advice on removing that oil seal? The one on the KZ400 was impossible to remove without splitting the case. Hopefully this one is easier? Couldn't find it in the manual and haven't seen any instructions online. Hoping that it's as simple as a circlip...

Oh yeah good point. I'll look into that. I can always have spacers machined if it's wider.

It's me again. So the bike I'm working on, as mentioned before is a 1979 XS400. I'm considering a front end swap for a single disk 17" spoke wheel to match the spokes that are already on it. It looks like the forks on the XS400 and the KZ400 are both 33mm. In my mind, all that this swap...

Okay, so the 1979 XS400 that I'm working on has been leaking some oil. I checked it out and it looked like it was coming from inside the sprocket cover on the left side. I removed the cover and it looks like an oil bomb exploded in there. So I think I'm on the right track. I had a 1979 KZ400...

Need to track down and fix an oil leak, which I'll start a new thread for, then I'll get it running and dig into the carbs if it's still having issues.

Adjusted the left exhaust valve and the compression is up to 145. So I have 145 on both cylinders. Guess a rebuild isn't in my future after all.

Wet test and leak down are both on my to-do list. Definitely not jumping to any conclusions yet.

Yes, full throttle on the compression test. I looked them up and have read through them, don't worry :) However none of them specifically mention the oil/draining the oil which I thought was interesting. However with a center stand I can see how it wouldn't be an issue.
