Most miles on an XS400?

I don't buy the 135,000 miles. My guess is that the seller is using his knowledge of car mileage and assuming a 29 year old bike has to have over 100,000 miles. The odo only has 5 digits, I'm guessing.
 
Almost 29k on mine, would love to have more but don't have any time to ride:(
 
44000km on mine when I got it...I've been racking up around 700-1000km/week commuting and booting around so I'm closer to 50K by now:bike::laugh:
 
I got a response from the seller on ebay. He said the bike says 13,650 on it, but the title got messed up and says 135,000, so he listed it at that to avoid any conflict if the bike sold. You think he would have mentioned that in the ad!
 
after how many miles does the engine need to be rebuilt? (piston and rings and whatnot) is it just weather or not the compression is good and it's not burning oil?? mine has almost 14,000 miles on it and was wondering if it's a good idea to do a rebuild over the winter or just leave it.

"If it aint broke dont fix it!" Of course thats just my opinions....and they have a saying about opinions too lol :D
 
As long as it don't puke oil or smoke a lot don't worry, parts to rebuild these are not cheap or easy to find.
 
Mines at 21,800 as of this morning. It's got less compression than a new bike, but still runs fine and I had it on a 4 lane for several miles at 70mph just this morning and I'm a big guy- no hurry here to rebuild.
 
Damn, I didn't keep a record or picture of the speedo on my XS250 when I sold her recently, but I know the mileage was way up, in the fourties or fifties I think ...... (miles not Km!!!).
 
im not too sure. i have to look at the title, because i got the bike with no speedo and there is only a tach on it now. and since i rebuilt it with a new case and everything inside, is it a new engine? lol
