let me explain the situation:

i just installed new carb slide diaphrams and carb holders, it was running OK before but the idle would hang and i had a crack in the holders.

after the new parts were put in the bike fired right up and seemed to idle much nicer. the throttle response was 100% better.

i rode it for a day it was fine, the next day i went about 20km on the highway at speeds of about 100kmh and it purred along great. i stopped for a train passing and shut off the bike for 5 minutes. I restarted the bike via kick and it started to run crappy, ie. popping and sputtering and wanting to stall out if i didnt keep the revs up there.

i switched to res. fuel no change, gas was full, bike was hot but normal..

i hit another stop sign and it stalled. after that i could get it to idle but any amount of throttle would kill it instantly.

after repeated attempts of trying to get it rolling it eventually just wouldnt fire or idle at all.

my battery was really dead at the time and i had been using the kick for the past few days. (lights arnt hooked up yet either)

any ideas on why it was running so nicely, and all the sudden quit on me? i did the basic checks.. :wtf:

starting to consider trading it because summers are short here and i just want somthing to ride.

thats what i was sorta thinking... i do have a vented battery on its side with a vent hose running vertically... but some times i notice battery acid leaking out after a ride.

ill have to get a non-vented type i think.

and its painted black so maybe its outta juice. that would be the best case scenario, thanks drewpy

no acid in the battery will cause it to blow up.

please don't charge it dry!

plates will be fubard anyway

haha, alright i shall pick up a non vented type then!

why do they even make vented ones. seems like more of a pain in the ass than anything

My battery went from perfect to barely charged to wouldn't hold a charge for 5 minutes in very short order. Turns out I (via the trickle charger - or maybe the bikes alternator[?]) had boiled it dry.
But when I topped it up with distilled water and charged it with a proper 12 amp charger for about an hour, it's like a brand new battery.
Might be worth topping it up with water just to see - maybe it will get you through the remaining warm nights at least.

i ended up buying a new sealed battery. it fired right up fine, i hope its just this and not somthing to do with my charging system.

my regulator and rect. are in the oil tank , it is vented out the back in a few spots. i hope i didnt fry them. it was a PITA to get everything in there and mounted.
