    Stock airbox install

Willem - ran it today for about an hour with it in "ON" - and it was fine (well, not really, but better). new air filter is on its way, then carb cleaning and tuning time. yay me. Thanks for your help guys!

    Stock airbox install

that's odd... my petcock has Res (top) - Pri (right) and On (bottom) - when "on" - no fuel flows, as if someone was dyslexic when building the thing. Where should mine be? I've left it on PRI when riding, as otherwise it's off or on reserve...

    Stock airbox install

Hey Dave, would that have been a change from adding the stock air box back on? Not really looking forward to ripping this thing apart again, but so be it if that's the case. The petcock was in pri when this all happened. So you figure I have to pull the carbs?

    Stock airbox install

So... I had it in, figured out the carb boots would be easier to remove with the engine down, so, did that, attached it all up, fired it up, ran it to the gas station and back (15 minutes maybe). Parked. My wife and her best friend were going to putter in a parking lot (my wife wants...

    Stock airbox install

ok... I'll attach pictures tomorrow morning (kids need to go to bed), but I've pivoted the engine almost 90 degrees forward (carbs point almost up), and now there's room to get the airbox in there, but the frame seems to be preventing it. crap. Anyone out there done this?

    Stock airbox install

Damn, that's the answer I wasn't looking for. Ok - that said, I think I saw 3 bolts attaching the engine to the frame - one at the bottom, and two along top, beneath the tank... I'm going to make an assumption that I'll need to take those top two out to pivot the engine. Oh what a morning I...

oh, and I don't think the previous guy jetted to begin with... it ran so badly with them on I can only guess that the carbs are completely screwed up right now...

    Stock airbox install

well that's what I thought - and have experienced with others... but I can't figure it out - both sides are limited in space to get it in, the top is nowhere near big enough... ugh.

    Stock airbox install

So... bought my 82 with K&N pods on it... I'm more of a 'keep it stock' guy - and want to put the stock airbox back on - how best approach this? I think I read somewhere that I have to pivot the engine to make it happen... is that the case?
