77 xs400 head on a 78 bottom end?

Hey guys in the middle of my rebuild I wanted to change the plugs seeing as they probably my having been changed since the early 80's, my right side plug snapped flush with the motor it took a torch and an easy out to remove it unfortunately the head cracked in the process. Long story short there's someone with a 77 xs400 selling the motor, would the top end of that bike bolt directly to the 78 xs400-2e that I have?

yep, its the same throughout the range. they did change the front lower mounts to a rubber one via the frame. Just check for those first.
