Hey guys,

So I have a 1980 XS400 that had a charging issue I never ran into. It has an antigravity battery and a ricks regulator/rectifier. The voltage never reaches the regulator set point of 14.5(stays around 13.4-13.6 idle or revving, with no load. With load 13.2 at idle) but is constantly pushing high amperage into the battery. No load amperage going to the battery at idle is around 5 and the second I touch the throttle it jumps to around 12amps. Loaded amperage at idle is less than an amp and jumps to 7-8amps revving.

I had this bike for years with this setup until recently it killed a battery. Saw it was overcharging (over 15volts) so I changed the regulator/rectifier and now I'm running into this issue of excessive amperage and not reaching regulator voltage set point. I tried different, good regulators I had, different batteries, resistance checked all components and wiring, checked ac stator output, and they all fall in spec.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
