DOHC TCI module swap for increased performance.

I noticed tonight that my Canadian '82 Maxim has a German spec TCI module. "Type TID12-07" as compared to the US module, "Type TID12-08". This initially surprised me, but thinking about it I realized that Canadian emissions regulations back them were much less restrictive that the US standards.

The difference that I can see (looking at the manual) is that the German module brings the advance in sooner and provides more advance at the higher RPM's. Where as the US spec module has less advance over the entire RPM band, and it falls off after 6,150 RPM.

It would be a rather easy upgrade for someone with a US spec module to install the Canadian (aka German) module and gain better fuel economy and high RPM performance...

There is no such thing as a cheap TCI module. If it works, it is valuable. If it doesn't...

yeah, i know. I was lucky enough to rebuild mine and get it to work. The bike came with two units, but only one was rebuildable. Price of the bike was as much as just the units themselves.

you could get a zealtronic and you can modify torque curves till the cows come home
