Hey just wondering if anyone has had a lot of luck fixing deep scratches and dents on their bikes? A friend of mine's gas tank has a deep scratch into the primer and we were thinking of buying a repair kit and sander. Is this relavtively easy to fix in an hour or two? Any tips? The bike is red like mine and the spot is about 2X2 centimetres wide.

Feather it out, scuff the tank and repaint. Just make sure it's just a scratch and it didn't dent. Sometimes there slight and hard to notice till you paint, so be sure or you'll be painting again after you fill the dent.

A gas tank is nice to paint. Comes off easy, easy to sand down and spray. Nice results too.

Take your time sanding and go from a coarse grain all the way up to very fine wet sand paper. The sanding stage is most important in a good paint job. Spray a few thin layers of paint, and finish off with a few layers of clear coat. Best to spray on a dry day with low humidity, at decent temperatures (check spray can). Get a spraying tent or booth if you can.
