Hi guys I just picked up a 82 xs400 and I had no problems cleaning out the carbs but one of the floats had a little dent and I'm assuming gas had leaked inside the float I need to replace it but I'm not sure what the part number is are the floats for these pretty much interchangeable or do I have to have a specific one. The one in the picture is the good one

The bigger one looks off a bs38 carb. The ones posted in the mikesxs link would be the right ones. Remember to set the float height to 26mm. The book states a different measurement for your year bike because it originally came with foam style floats.

Thanks gonna get this thing running

Looks like a good find. I would keep it all stock and restore it a much as you can. If your vin starts with 4R4 it's a 81. I have an 81 also and it's a great bike to ride.
