Hello Everyone,

I just picked up my 1980 xs400 last week and stumbled across the site. I am also new to being endorsed, just did the Team Oregon training weekend. Let's see, about the bike... Well it is a reconstructed titled bike, I am finding all sorts of nifty wiring problems... Oil in the generator? Not certain if that is supposed to be there... I have the wrong instrument cluster.... Ah I bought myself a project, yay!

As soon as I get my camera back in order I will post some pics for all to see. I just wanted to drop a line, say hello, oh and vent just a wee bit.

Rest your mind about one thing-oil is supposed to behind the alternator cover. In the factory manual, any service that is done removing the cover involves step one- drain the engine oil. Actually, however, that is not necessary if you have the bike on the center stand. Some oil will leak out, but not much.
