Hello and a warm intro!

Greetings Everyone!

Just got a 1980 Yamaha Special II 400. I have been reading a lot on this site for the past 3-4 hrs. Great site.

I am in need of of the owner's manual. Found the link in this site will all the maintenance manuals but I do not recall seeing the owner's one. Can anyone help find one? Found one on ebay but not sure how clean it is...

Is there a way to decipher the exact year it was made/built? My frame number starts with 3F8.

Thanks for all the help. The back is a project bike and I plan to restore it back to stock condition as much as I can.

The seat looked a bit better but when I got the bike. I was too excited (like a kid at the candy store) that I forgot to secure the seat when I loaded the bike on the trailer. On my way home, the seat came off while at highway speeds and luckily for me, the driver behind me alerted me of such thing. I was not aware of what had happened. The vinyl got torn up as you see it but is all good. I will get a new seat for it.
