Ok so I'm finally putting my engine back together.:D:D and am installing new plain bearings. The Haynes manual says the top of the half shell bearing must be flush with the top of the case. This makes sense and is how it looks in the lower case. The problem is with the upper half of the case. The top of the shell sticks up on both sides. Not much.. about the thickness of a couple sheets of paper. I'm thinking this is to make up for the thickness of the gasket cement used to seal the two halves together.
I'm not really sure though and wonder waht you think?

Thanks

they tend not to follow the radius of the case so they may flip out a bit. if you push them down they should stay there!
