After being bummed about having to buy a new rectifier, giving up for almost a year, and then discovering the industrial bridge rectifier trick (thanks to this forum), I am getting back on track. Any how, I found the example I want to use for my build. My question is, why does the top end of the motor look different than mine? Was there a difference in European and American jugs? The example bike, by the way, is from lionsdencustoms.com.

Lion's Den's bike has points, whereas yours has electronic ignition. They changed the design of the cover when they went to TCI, and the profile of the cooling vanes on the head and jugs is slightly different. Just an older variation of the engine.

The 77-D and the 78 2-E had the box type engines here in the u.s. They changed them to the lighter/sleeker round motor in late 78. They started with the tci type ignition in 80. Over seas they used the older style into the 80's.
