I know this is a bit of an old thread but instead if making a new one to ask a related question I thought i would do it here.
How do you guys recommend I compress the coil prior to removing??

Ratchet strap. Youtube it, you'll see how it's done.

Saw the videos. Bought a ratchcet strap. Will try it later. Thanks.
I gave up on disassembling my rear shocks but tried it after seeing this thread resurrected.
Did a quick look on YouTube but just gave it a try without watching anything.
Used two, one on each side to compress the spring evenly. Worked well enough. Will post pictures after I do the second one.
