Yes another boring tyre size thread:laugh: Sorry for being so boring. I have been reading different threads but i really would like a 'final word' on what can and cant be run.

I guess my question is simple.

Firstly, what are the factory tyre recommendations for a 1979 XS250/400

Is it front 90/90-18 and rear 110/90-18?

Secondly, whats the fattest on the back without mods? 120 or 130?

Sorry for flogging the dead horse:laugh: But i just want to be sure what to order cause i want whitewalls maybe.

I run 100/90 front, and could fit 110 without problems. In the rear I have 18" and 120/90, 130 on mine is gonna hit the chain. Not sure about 16 inch, tho. (Seen someone usin 130 on 16incher)

Ah cool thanks for the heads up sandrew, what year is your bike? So you can go a bit wider on the front and 120 on the back. Atm mine has a 120 on the back but damn it looks skinny?!? Maybe thats because its a really old school tyre.

How does running a slightly wider tyre on the front effect handling? Oh yeah my mag wheels are 18" too.

you'll find it harder to turn the bike. I stick with the standard tyre sizes on my resto bike, but the tracker has over size and is harder to steer but I have wider handlebars.

This should fit.
