Hi all..I decided to start my build thread although I'm nt far into it.
I have a 1982 maxim I traded for a game system..runs for short spurts...carb needs replaced as PO broke most of the screws and tabs.. I've done a lot of reading and went with a home made bolt on square tube for the backbone. With height adjustment holes.. Marked off where I plan to cut off . hoping to find a shorter length tank as the maxim tank is huge..pod filter with straight pipes planned more updates and pictures to come since its fall/winter and cnt ride in a foot of snow IMG_20131102_100158.jpg

Nice chop! I ended up shaving my seat down slightly and sacraficing a leather jacket that I just barley cut right to fit. I wanted to seal up the foam that was shaved so I grabbed some super 77 spray glue and unloaded on it. It does not harden the seat when it dries its still pliable, it wont saturate below the surface, and after a few days of drying it was sealed perfect and still tackey enough to keep the new leathers in place.

Good barter for the bike, cant wait to see more.

Seats about ready to be covered..some more weight loss and shapping with an angle grinder on the foam starting to resemble a seat again
