Have you done any research on this? I had the same urge as you and went ahead and straight up cut the back of mine and even thought I already have received the 7/8 DOM tube I still haven't gotten around to bend and weld.
TBH, I am a little jittery about the bending, dont want any kinks on it and because of the seat I picked, I gotta do a pretty sharp angle curve.
I'm in the same boat. Right now I just have the cut off frame ends. I might not even bend and weld a new piece. It doesn't look too bad and I already dumped a ton of $$ into it ha!
