    vm28's on an xs360

So I thought I might report back on my experience of Mikuni BS34 stock vs. Mikuni VM carbs. the VMs are very popular on the xs650, and from all reports they work great. When I got my project xs360 I knew the carbs were completely junked and would need to be replaced so I tried out a set of...

    XS360 Pilot Jets

little update: so pilot jets are now size 20 (up from the stock 17.5) and mains are 137.5 (up from 135). idle screws are 2 turns out and needle is in middle position (as stock). I've synchronised the carbs using a gauge synchroniser (very cheap one) and they are looking pretty good, I'll...

    XS360 Pilot Jets

thanks BB, they look about right. still at that $25 price point....I think that's the norm unfortunately. I reckon I'll get a set of 20's and 25's this weekend and see what works.

    XS360 Pilot Jets

Thanks Mike, I've managed to source some here at a local shop but the are $25 each so I was hoping to find some cheaper ones online. what did you end up using on your build? I haven't fiddled with the air screw yet so hopefully that might enrich it just enough. it will currently run with the...

    XS360 Pilot Jets

Hey fellow xs'ers I've just installed some K&N oval pods and some open pipes and now preparing to re-jet to suit. my problem is, where the hell do you find xs360 pilot jets!!!!! these things seem to just not exist! I've read a couple threads here on the forum of people going up from the #17.5 to...

    vm28's on an xs360

Thought I might give an update on how the lil xs360 has been running over the Spring/Summer/Autumn period. she's now done about 1000kms since the top end rebuild, Pamco ignition and VM28 experiment. the engine is running strong with ridiculous compression, my riding buddies feel a massive force...

    vm28's on an xs360

26hp out of the factory....40 years ago....23hp now.... I'm pretty happy with that. It reminds me of an old top gear episode where they took some old super cars and did a now and then comparison of hp and they had waaaaaay worse decreases in power. Ideally I would have used the stock carbs but...

    vm28's on an xs360

mission update: the points were being a pain so I decided to replace them with a Pamco ignition. massive difference! once wired up the bike started straight away and runs beautifully!!! This weekend I'll run the engine for a bit and then start on tuning the carbs. spring is only 3 weeks away...

Wiring up Pamco ignition on xs360

mission update: wired up the Pamco ignition on the weekend, turned the key, pressed the button and WOOOOO shes fired straight up! I'll provide some pictures of the setup and some additional instructions for anyone who comes across this thread in the future while looking for instructions on how...

Wiring up Pamco ignition on xs360

thanks BBS, I might have a think about how to do it without it being so permanently connected to the coils though, will be a fun mission for the weekend!

Wiring up Pamco ignition on xs360

yea one per cylinder/coil. which would mean, and correct me if Im wrong, 1 splitter per coil to connect each pamco red wire and then the Y-splitter that's already there to connect to the red/white wire. which is fine, just means there would be three splitters instead of one. you're right though...

Wiring up Pamco ignition on xs360

do you reckon it would be alright to combine the red wire on the pamco and the red wire on the coil into one the one bullet? currently the red wires from both coils (with bullets) come together on a Y-splitter connected to the red/white wire. this might save on having a Y-splitter for each coil...
