Hey, just ordered those shorty mufflers today for my 81. Any tips on mounting to the headers or Jetting?

If you look back in my thread, there was a lot of comments about the pods and getting rid of the h-pipe, but I just ran the bike hard at an AHRMA event at Road America and it did just fine. Simply rerouted the venting to a separate catch tank and it did just fine.

Hope that helps a bit, but as I said, I'll find more info on the jetting adjustments that were made.

Oh yea...as also mentioned in the thread...the shorties are pretty darn loud...but as they say...loud pipes save lives...right?!

Sorry for the huge gap in response, but all the info I could get on the jetting was that it was increase in size (jet hole size I assume), but I was unable to get any specifics, sorry.

Been riding for about 6 years. First and only bike has been a 1982 XS400SJ...at least until I recently purchased a 1980 XS650 just recently. Now I'm looking to put the XS400 on the track...so I'll probably have some questions for you all :)

Photography, Hockey and hopefully Vintage Racing!
