Yes I used the factory wiring diagram and another one that is simplified to the level of just minimum components. I have a hunch as to where this plug (near the main switch) is on the simplified diagram but I still don't see a male plug where this one can plug into. Something must be missing...
I got a new wiring harness in the mail, got her wired and I'm pretty sure it's correct. Problem is I can't get the thing to turn over unless I bypass everything and even then there is no spark. I know I've got the solenoid wired correctly and I am bypassing the on switch. The only thing I can...
Hey guys I just need help wiring the bike to get a spark. I purchased a matching stock wiring harness because the one that was on the bike was completely messed up and frankensteined. I have been viewing various wiring diagrams and haven't had any luck. Can anyone simply tell me what to...
Anyone know the differences between these two bikes. Mainly concerned with the wiring harness. I am looking at a harness the seller says is for an 83 and I have the an 82. Mainly hoping that the wire colors are the same so I can use the 82 wiring diagram.
Hey guys,
Trying to make my 82 maxim into a cafe racer. Just bought the bike and the previous owner tried to make it into a rat bike so the harness is completely botched and the finished product won't have as many components so I am thinking about starting fresh and making my own. There is...
There is a slight amount of play so I would think it is already loose. But I will try it again with a hammer and maybe a different clamp to apply more pressure.
Check out the attached pictures. They are of the bolt holding the swing arm on on both sides. Pretty sure that washer is welded in and I am betting that is why I can't get the dang thing out!!!!
Thanks a lot previous owner!!! :wtf::mad::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Pretty simple, trying to get my swing arm off to make it easier to strip and paint but the bolt absolutely will not budge even when using a hammer. It also doesn't work to use a clamp. At this point I am thinking I there is something blocking it from coming out but I can't see anything in...
I am looking to get mufflers for my 82 maxim. Just wondering if I would be correct to assume that to install them I would have to cut off the stock exhaust somewhere before the taper and insert them? If so would they slip in or over the current pipes? The ones at mikesxs are all 1 7/8 OD and 1...
Pretty sure it's 1.875". I have been wondering how to install these, would I be correct in assuming that you need to cut off the stock pipes before it tapers and slip these on?
I am about ready to order the tank and seat for the cafe racer I am making out of my 82 maxim 400. I have seen builds on the net that have the battery hidden beneath the seat hump. However the battery that was on the bike when I bought it seems too large to fit underneath the humps I have seen...
I have an '82 xs400 maxim DOHC. Just bought it and planning to make it into a cafe racer but the previous owner completely bastardized and frankensteined the wiring. So I have no idea where to start. I have seen plenty of wiring diagrams around the net but I don't know if thye are custom...
Just wondering if anyone has experience ordering parts from www.mikesxs.com. I'm just starting a cafe build and it looks like they have a lot of the parts that I need. Ive got an 82 maxin DOHC which I understand the parts to be less readily available.
