I have my motor completely stripped, I'm wondering if its just as simple as coating everything in engine oil for storage? Or if anyone has any other suggestions that would be appreciated

Just an update if anyone runs into this issue. The alternator is a very snug fit. So a lot of wiggling and making sure it doesnt get cocked in the side cover and it should slide right out.

I will be vapor blasting all of the aluminum engine parts so I'm stripping the engine down as much as possible. It feels loose in there, I just cant seem to get it to slide out. Any recommendations or suggestions? Thank you

Thank you very much for our reply. I didn't word my question very well, sorry. So what has me concerned is there is a space between the inside of the fork and item #44. I forgot to take a picture of it last night.

I'm in the process of reassembling the front end of my 80 xs400. I didn't pay much attention when disassembling, so I hope someone can help me out. I noticed opposite of the drum side. there is a space between the lower fork and the wheel. Is this supposed to be there? Am I missing a spacer...

Oh boy, That doesn't make me feel any better. Is the retainer piece steel? Im wondering if a stud welded to it and a slide hammer would be enough to free mine. Mine has a little bit of movement to it.
