    Wanted - Good clean carbs for a 1978 xs400

Still looking for a set seeing as the last ones I bought were NOT in good working condition like I was asking for. Thanks

Wanted - Dont buy from SWAPDIP

That's funny that you add in paypal fees when I sent you extra money without you even asking. Just the icing on the cake for this crappy transaction. It went from them coming from a good running bike, to a pretty good running bike, to a backfiring bike. Whatever. I should have looked at your...

Wanted - Dont buy from SWAPDIP

Just got the biggest piece of crap set of carbs from him. Not worth the box they were shipped in and he won't even work with me. Self tapping screws holding parts together, chunks of dirt inside (literally) on "good clean carbs" that were "running a bike 6 months ago. Completely frozen choke...

Bike rolls when kick starting in gear with clutch disengaged?

Just wondering if it's normal that the bike moves like it's in gear when trying to start it with the clutch in. The bike fires right up in neutral and will then drive around fine, no clutch issues. But if I stop the bike in first and shut it off, I can't just pull in the clutch and kick start...

    Compression woes

So I HAD to drill out the brass that was stuck in there. I tried everything. Anyways, I drilled it to 1/16 (smallest bit I had). I screwed the new screw all the way down (which doesn't quite hit since the hole is bigger ) and the thing runs better than ever. No backfires what so ever, will...

    Longer fork tubes

So someone here suggested to go to Forks by Frank (googled it and sent an email). He said he has stock, +2, and +4" fork tubes in stock. About $300 shipped for the pair in case anyone else is looking for something like this.

    Compression woes

More bad news. Found one of my two mixture screws broken off and stuck in the carb still. On the side that is backfiring , go figure. Luckily xschris is sending me some new screws. Hopefully this is the last problem I'll find. I'm not sure how long that was broken in there or if I even did...

    intro bobber

So are you at all worried about removing the two other bars that used to support the frame? I would like to do this but I would be afraid to make the frame too weak?

    engine swap

Yup, just did my headgasket for the same exact reason, not a bad job at all. Left the motor in the bike.

    Compression woes

So I'm 99.9% sure I found the problem. Apparently when I was seafoaming the motor the first time and it "all of a sudden" started running like crap, was probably when the nut on the valve adjusting screw came loose and started working it's way off. When I went to check the valve clearances and...

    Compression woes

So I put everything back together. The bike runs better. At idle it's pretty much perfect but if I rev it up at all I still get some backpressure out the front of the carb. Looks like some fuel spitting out also. I may have to do a complete overhaul on these carbs. I just can't seem to get...

    Compression woes

So yesterday evening, I cleaned the contacts and ran the bike, didn't run much better. I proceeded to go around cleaning every contact that I could . I redid the wire connections on the points themselves. I only found one ground on the motor that goes to the battery besides the front...

    Compression woes

Cool, I can't wait to get this thing mechanically sound so I can start CHOPPING!!! I feel as though I'm close! I have a 98 BMW m3 that I turbo'd and put out 600WHP before I went a little crazy with the boost and blew the motor. Now that motor is at the machine shop and will be a while. That...

    Compression woes

Yeah, I tried cleaning the points with contact cleaner real quick but it didn't help. Can I just use a little sandpaper?
