Ok so I have two carb sets and switched back to the carb with stock pilot jets. I have stock exhaust. Stock air cleaners. I'm 3 turns out on the mix screw. And when I start it the idle still surges on choke. I was able to start it without choke eventually. And the idle seemed smoother but as...
The pilot jets are sized up to 145. With stock exhaust and stock air filters. 3 turns out on the mix screw. When full choke It runs super high rpm.
When I take it off choke it dies.
I feel like it's running lean. Any ideas ? Is the pilot screw too big ?
The pilot jet is not blocked. It was...

The paper inside is starting to tear. My question is also, when I got the bike the pilots seized so I had to destroy them to get them. I replaced them with a size bigger and I feel like the bike doesn't pull as hard as my other Xs400. Do you think using uni pods without the H pipe might justify...
Do you have a part number for the uni filters you would recommend? They fit with the stock battery box on the H pipe? I saw on another post you cut the flange out of the a stock pair of filters.
My piston was seized so I ordered a used brake caliper form eBay, but it was a 1978 caliper (oops), the caliper still mounts to the bike, is it still compatible?
I actually just went ahead and bought a new head light ♂️. A brand new bucket and all the mounting rings wasn't much more than replacing the stock hardware , and I already had the bulb.
The look. I got a stock 400. I picked this one up for 200 bucks in rough shape so I figured I'd have some fun with it. I'm sure raked out front ends and hard tails aren't good for handling either, but it sure looks cool.
What if I take off the chain guard. Would there be an issue then?
Thanks Leo, you're about to be a Guru on Both websites!
Let me ask you this ; would there be any adverse effects from putting a 5.0 tire on a 16 inch rim, that does seem awfully tall.
I'm trying to make the tires the same height
I know the front is 18 and the rear 16
I was going to do 4.0 -18 in front
And 4.5-16 in the rear
Would that work?
