3.50-16 too narrow for my rear alloy?

I have an 82 XS400 SOHC. I'm looking at putting dual sport tires on it, and was wondering if a 3.50-16 is too narrow for my rear alloy rim.

Bondo or fiberglass seems like the easiest fix to me.

18" front and 16" rear dual sport tire search

That model tire lists a 3.00x18 that will fit the front, but nothing that will fit the 16" rear. 3.00x16 is too narror (at least I think it's too narrow).

Maybe dual purpose tires are different then street tires, but I was always told that you should stick with matching tires. Any thoughts folks?

18" front and 16" rear dual sport tire search

I've spent about 3 hours searching for a matching set of 18" front/16" rear dual purpose tires. I don't think they are out there, if so, please prove me wrong. :)

looking for opinions on an 82 XS400sj tracker build

I believe it's really rich at the moment. Will running rich cause the above problems?

looking for opinions on an 82 XS400sj tracker build

Here's a pic of my 89 xv535 project bike that I worked on last year. It's what I drive every day now. This winter my plan is to pull the carbs to clean and re-jet them for the free flow exhaust, paint the front forks gloss black, powdercoat the wheels, and I might shorten up the rear fender...

looking for opinions on an 82 XS400sj tracker build

I understand what you mean, but I'd have to do quite a bit of work to do to it before I could ever ride it though, so I thought, why not just jump right into it. Also, I have another bike that - ride. Also, we got the bike for free, so that saves approx $500 right off the top! :)
