Engine noise - diagnose needed

Yes. The SOHC have a spring-loaded ratcheting cam tensioner that is fully automatic with no adjustment. Check the valves, but don't expect them to be silent. An air-cooled engine without hydraulic tappets will always have some noise.

I have a spare chain tensioner i will attempt to find in case it needs to be replaced.
i got a spot in a local cafe racer garage from november, i will therefor be checking all possibilities when i move in.
And @xschris is right the SOCH engines have automatic cam chain tensioner.

I know they aren't quiet, but it didn't make the noises before incident
 
Weird, I bought one of those off of Xchris some time ago. Mine had broke the tension-er in half. Pics are here somewhere. I do have a noise coming from the tach. I have been trying to quiet that one down.
 
I took for a spin after a few days, the noises had gone away and i hope it stays that way.
Anyhow, i'm not using the bike right now, because. winter...
But thanks to anyone who helped :thumbsup:
