found this barrel key ignition in my box of parts for my 81 Yamaha xs400. How to I go about wiring it into my harness to make it work?

so how do I test it when I'm turning the motor over?

I got a 1981 Yamaha xs400, and my rectifier is dead. I'm not picking up anything on my multimeter with it. Does this explain why I have no spark?
