yoooo folks, Thanks to this forum, I was able to get my $300 '78 xs400 running and driving. Before: After: All i need now is nice seat and a clutch cable. I guess i need a clutch cable... it's really hard to squeeze and won't disengage all the way unless i put the handle back...

howdy, 78 xs400 - someone did a nice hackjob on the wiring and it's not getting spark. The orange coil wire is going spliced into and going to both coils while the grey coil wire has been cut and isn't connected to anything. Using my multi meter, I see both the + and - sides of the coil...
