Idle rises as bike warms up among other issues...

So, moving down a size on the pilot jets and readjusting the floats did the trick. No more black plugs; now I just need to fine tune via the mixture screws. @Scorpio, were there any changes at all to the bike before it started revving to 4-5k with everything hooked up? I'm assuming you checked...

Idle rises as bike warms up among other issues...

Carbs are ultrasonic clean and have new everything in them and I used the stock intake tube so my pods don't obstruct the air jets. Just went out for a short ride today and it was having a tough time staying started when kicking it after stopping at the auto parts store. I had to give it a bit...

It's more lumpy, like it stays within 1300-1400 RPMs when warm, but just feels like it's not as steady as it should be.

Open faced helmets....whats your eye protection?

Here is why I wear a full-face all of the time: Over a third of impacts go to the chin! Plus, I like how my helmet looks :D

Idle rises as bike warms up among other issues...

Ok, bringing my thread back as I'm still trying to figure out why I can't get things perfect. Everytime I pull the plugs they are black all over with one side showing a little tan coming through and a little on the ground strap. Is this normal? I just took these out in favor of new plugs and the...

    Starter and kick behaving strange

I would try adjusting the clutch using the adjuster under the plug on the case as described in the manuals on this site. It may just be out of spec and is really easy to check.

    Dime City Cylce Jets

Well good luck then! Hopefully they will work out. By the looks of the bleed holes, the pilots look to be the VM and aren't interchangeable with ours.

    Dime City Cylce Jets

Unfortunately it looks as if all of those jets listed are for the Mikuni VM carb and not our BS. Best bet is to order from MikesXS!

Left side plug looks to be rich with a slight tinge of tan and the right side looks like it's really close, maybe just a tad rich. It's supposed to rain all week, but hopefully I will be able to get out and do some fine-tuning if we get some sun breaks.

    Spark plug Rich/Lean

Mine had pitting as well and it caused a brand new seal to start leaking pretty quick. Replaced the seal and rod and have been leak-free ever since (knock on wood).

Idle rises as bike warms up among other issues...

Alright, mixture screw is 3 turns out and needles back to stock and the idle is much smoother, the bike starts in about 3-4 kicks, and the breakup is gone. The idle is still a little unpredictable, but I'm wondering if it's the butterfly shaft seals as I dipped the carbs but never replaced them...

Idle rises as bike warms up among other issues...

Hello everyone! I'm running into a few snags as I'm attempting to figure out my fueling settings. First off, the bike has pods and straight pipes, so jetting has been changed to 142.5 mains, 45 pilots, and a washer on each needle to raise it. Mixture screws are at about 2 to 1.5 screws out...

    The "firsts" build thread!

I agree and it is definitely in the works along with some baffles and end-pieces. Finally got moved into our new place in Olympia! Now I have a garage at my disposal and my bike is here ALL THE TIME! I've already had the carbs off to rejet while chasing a cold start problem. Still having...

    Anyone with straightpipe+baffle experience??

Not sure if I'm late to the party, but here is a short clip of my bike with straight-pipes. I jetted pretty similar to Scorpio except that I leaned out the needle a little, but I think I might need to richen it back up as I'm running into a slight stumble in the mid-range if I am holding the...

    The "firsts" build thread!

Alright, here are some crummy pics of the rearsets. Using a GoPro for still shots is kind of a pain. Shift side: Brake side: And they still feel good! I'm getting used to the exhaust, so by the time we get baffles made I will probably be deaf :D I am kind of bummed because the...
