1981 xs400 no spark

hey guys. i picked up an 81 xs400 this past weekend for next to nothin. the petcock was left on at some point so all the gas had mixed in with the oil. after a good flush, new oil, plugs and filter i have no spark. any ideas? this is a kickstart only setup.

Are the fuses good?

no no and no.
cleaned the connections on the coil. got it to fire up once. it was a PITA to keep running so once i finally got it to idle where it sound decent i let it run for 5 min then as soon as i hit the throttle she died.

carbs?

Clean the carbs and set the timing.
