Hi...

My regeneration says its a 82 but I need 80,81 front brake pads.

just found this out by buying new pads at the dealer and finding out they dont fit.

looking threw ebay pictures seems i need pads from 80,81.

Is this because month the bike was manufactured or dealer selling tricks by playing with years?

Models and years vary in diff countries.

I always look up the old part before ordering new, just to be sure.

Sometimes the assembly line just needs to use up parts laying around. I had an 86 Ford with an 87 engine that had an 85 wiring harness. It's all about Using whats left to keep costs down but still charging the same price for the finished product. The assembly line can make some interesting and strange bastard children.

Are you sure that the dealer didn't give you pads for an '82 DOHC XS400 (Maxim or Seca) instead of pads for an '82 SOHC XS400? That is about the only year both were made.

you've got those swinging arm calipers, used in the RD daytona too. Yamaha didn't use them for very long, so don't blame the dealer its an easy mistake to make.

I'm not blaming the dealer, he was cool enough not to charge 25% for restocking

still pricy tho... 45$ , can get off ebay for about 20$

I need to setup a paypal account... money orders take forever
