250 engine with a 400 head cam shaft and clutch is it possible

before i fit an xs650 motor into it i want to tune my 250 motor ive seen a company who make sport cams for the xs 400 , will a 400 head fit my 250 engine and would the clutch aswell

head and barrels will fit, then you need a bigger carb.

bottom end is all the same.

you reckon you can get a 650 motor in?

that is a tall engine so a bit of fab work on the frame is needed.

Dont worry about frame fab work , thats fine , the 400 barrels wont fit as the grudgion pin is different sizes

no i meant an xs400 with sport camshaft & xs400 clutch basket with Heavy duty plates

clutch baskets on sohc are all the same. the differences between the 250 ad 400 are;

larger barrels/pistons
carbs and intake/manifolds
larger head and valves

no other differences except maybe the crank is balanced for the smaller pistons of the 250.

Drewpy is spot on, I've done the conversion myself. Gudgeon pins are same size in both engines.

that's going to be amazing if you can get the 650 in. Are you going to rephase it to stop the vibes?

Dont know yet man I'm going to brace tge frame and rubber mount the engine to stop some vibes got to foam mount the tank to stop vibration getting at that
