3d sculpting

We have been trying to get a 3D printer at my school for awhile. They are stupid expensive.

I know the different brands all use there own consumables so you pritty much have to pay what the manufacturer wants. We have some parts that have been printed. You can actually print a gear box in one piece then rinse it in warm water and the stuff you want gone disolves, the rest stays intact.

I'm not sure I would want to make permanent parts with it. Great for testing prior to have things cnc cut though.

There was an article on slashdot.org some time back about building your own 3d printer. The results were impressive.
