well i got a headlight from an old german hercules with the speedo in it and some rearsets that i been workin on too. most important though is to raise the rearend, longer shocks. and i scored a set of wheels on e-bay, so im going to black one set out too.flex all the useless tabs and seatholder , get a decent paint job on it, and last but not least change the front blinkers. thats the plan.....

yes , i had a pair of shocks that where worn out, so i removed the spings and cut them to size. its definately not allowed here in germany so i rode it a few days and then put them on the shelf.

here is the headlight im thinkin about useing.

one problem that i have is that since i rejetted and my open hillbilly filters have is that when i drive at higher speeds ,120 kmh, im running the carb dry, so i guess i have to pull them and adjust the float level to compensate the higher gas useage. before i rejeted,(i drilled out a pair of original jets that i had laying around and got lucky the plugs are nice and tan in colour and the bike pulls well , the bike would do about 135 kmh with a 27 hph cam. the german xs 400 were sold here with that cam. im lookin for the bigger cam from the states to raise the hp a little. i dont know how much of a difference it would make though.

Looks great! I love the front springs. what did you use to cover the top if the forks? From what i've read, all but the german models had 37hp. Not sure if there were any restictions beyond cam and jets though.
Might be worth looking at the fuel line/filter/petcock instead if the float levels. It sounds to me like you have a clog of some kind, and i think messing with your float levels will just mess up your tuning.
