78 xs 400 motor using 81 xs400 carbs ?

Hey guys new to the site just bought a project bobber has a 77 xs400 motor and was only able to find 81 xs400 carbs. Was just hoping for recommendation for jet sizes and any other advice I'm at sea level where I live if that makes a difference. Thank you

What filters and exhaust are you running? Are you planning to change either?

Carb tuning depends on a lot of variables. Including air filters, exhaust and elevation. Until you have filters and mufflers can't help much. Starting stock with mix screws turned 3 turns out is a starting point on most bikes. Do a search of the forum for threads on carb tuning as there are TONS of them.
