82 XS400 Special II petcock replacement

I’ve been looking all over for a replacement petcock to see if I can breath life into a bike that’s been sitting for 30+ years. Still has compression and the carbs are cleaned and rebuilt (need to be tuned and balanced).

I’m looking on eBay but all the petcocks on there are saying they’re for the maxim model. Does it matter or will it not fit?

Won't fit. Different bolt spacing.

Is yours sohc or dohc bike? Post a pic. The 82 sohc was a heritage special and the dohc was a maxim or seca model. Different petcocks.

I bought this one for my 1977 Xs360. Mine is the base model with the coffin style tank. Not sure if it is the same size petcock as the other tanks. I think it is pricey but mine works great and was a direct install with no leaking.

That might work. My mounting holes are 46mm center to center.
