Any tricks to getting all the gas out of the tank?

A buddy of mine is an auto body guy at my local Mercedes dealer so he's gonna paint my tank and side covers for me at the dealer. I need to get as much of the gas out of the tank as possible. Is there any tricks or a proper procedure as to do this? I still have the oem vacuum Petcock

On my 82 xs400J, I drained as much as I could out the petcock then removed it. I then tilted the tank so all the remaining gas was in the top right corner and used a turkey baster to suck out about 99% of what was left.

I was cleaning out rust in the tank so wasn't worried about the remaining 1% but would guess the it would eventually evaporate

i blocked all the vacumms and only use reserve

its a big tank and cheap on gas
