Bldg 1980 XS400 Cafe Bike
My son and I are in the teardown phase of our cafe build and just pulled off the front forks and triple trees. Before the teardown there was a distinct thunk in the triple tree swing. It seems someone had been in there before and neglected to install all the ball bearings (one ball bearing is missing) .... and no, we didn't lose it, it was actually missing when we pulled it apart.
I've inspected all the bearing races and the ball bearings themselves and they're in basically perfect shape so I'd like to avoid the expenses of converting to tapered bearings. I'm hoping someone with a parts bike or who has already converted to tapered bearings might be willing help us out and slip a few spare bearings into an envelope and mail them to us? Alternately, does anyone know the ball bearing size and where to buy a few.
