Bike wont start 81 XS400 Special

I put a new stator in my bike and now I can't get it to run or start. I cleaned the carbs and added new gas and got no results. I also check spark and there is good spark on both cylinders. Every so often it will backfire out the carbs any idea on what it may be.

Did you sync then after you rebuilt them?Did you mess with the float level?I have mine set at 28mm same year bike as yours.

yes the carbs are synced and the float level wasnt messed with at all.

Check and make sure your coils are plugged in correctly. The wire crossed will cause your symptom. Happened to me before.

When your talking about the wires being crossed what wires are you talking about. You referring to the wire being plugged into the wrong coil.

clean the carbs again? Make sure all small passages are absolutely 100% open and clean. It takes most xs owners 3-4 times to get them actually clean

Carbs were cleaned very well took a torch tip cleaner and poked out all the passages.
