cam chain adjustment

if you have a SOHC XS400m the cam chain is not adjustable.
they are noisy bikes, especially when hot. might just be normal
To be complete, if you know the valves are in spec and the valvetrain does not have any broken or worn out parts, then any noise is normal. Until you know that the parts are in spec, we can't say if your noises are normal.
I think Drewpy is saying (and I agree 100%) that if you are expecting not to hear the valvetrain...sorry, you will. That's how I know it's still running.

we do get used to the watercooled bikes with quiet cam-chains and govt regs on noise. Enjoy your old bike while we still can.
